In my experience, folks really want to find out a lot more about the claims process, so they can at least ask the right questions. What was really troubling to many folks is they had gone to a lawyer’s office for a FREE CONSULTATION and then had to wait around for hours -then decided that they didn’t like the lawyer, and felt uncomfortable having that lawyer handle their case. I heard time after time from folks who had signed on with a lawyer who didn’t do anything on their case, promised them the moon, and then settled it years later for almost nothing. Often, the client said that it really seemed the lawyer had simply begged the insurance company for a settlement, and took whatever they offered. More often than not, I have heard that the lawyer seemed afraid to stand up to the insurance company, and seemed afraid to go to court. Then, the lawyer took his fees and costs from the settlement leaving them almost nothing.
