Texas Heiress Arrested for DWI in Houston
A great Houston auto accident injury attorney knows that grave mistakes such as driving under the influence of alcohol are things that are part and parcel of being a human being. But people also see how wealthy people and celebrities are regularly and notoriously given special treatment because of their elevated bank accounts and status. Houston car accident attorneys, as well as the general public are pleased to see American royalty treated like the ordinary citizens that they are.
Alice Walton, who is the billionaire daughter of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton, and the heiress to the superstore fortune was arrested last night for driving while intoxicated. Ms. Walton had been in Fort Worth celebrating her 62nd birthday, and was heading home when she was caught. Ms. Walton was pulled over by a Department of Public Safety patrolman for speeding. She was driving 71 m.p.h. in a 55 m.p.h. construction zone.
She appeared to be intoxicated, and when her blood alcohol level was tested, it was found to be 0.16—twice the legal limit. Dee J. Kelly, Ms. Walton’s attorney released a statement: “She was returning home from a birthday dinner with friends at a Fort Worth restaurant. She accepts full responsibility for this unfortunate incident and deeply regrets it.”
This isn’t the first time Ms. Walton, has been arrested for a DWI. Despite being somewhat of a Texas celebrity as well as the tenth-richest person in the United States (according to Forbes magazine) Houston drunk driving attorneys are pleased to see that Ms. Walton is being treated the same as any other citizen would be.
