Driver Missing After Woman Killed in Hit and Run Crash
Houston car accident lawyers know how devastating a hit and run accident can be to the families and communities of the victim. More often than not the hit and run drivers are tracked down, but at times the criminals do manage to evade authorities and escape.
Such an accident occurred in Northeast Houston on Wednesday night where a woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident. Witnesses at the scene of the accident reported that a woman was walking across the intersection of Homestead and West Knoll at about 9:30 p.m. when she was hit by a passing car. She was killed at the scene of the accident, and the car that struck her fled.
Witnesses also report that someone at the scene of the accident who witnessed the proceedings attempted to chase the vehicle that struck the victim, but was unable to keep up with the fleeing vehicle. The Houston Police Department reported that the suspect drove a blue Dodge Magnum with chrome rims. None of the witnesses were able to get a license plate number from the vehicle. Authorities request that anyone with information on this crime contact the Houston Police Department. The name of the victim has not yet been released.
Accidents where a fatality is involved are tragic enough in their own right, but when an accident then becomes a crime where the suspect is at large, it leaves too many unanswered questions for the victim’s family to be able to grieve properly. Suspects who commit crimes are rarely able to evade authorities and truly get away with a crime, so if you do commit a crime, even an accidental one, it is much better to come forward immediately rather than to let the charges that go along with evading authorities and leaving the scene of a crime build up.
