Why do so many truck accidents in Houston involve professionally trained truck drivers?
My belief is that the corporations who employ the drivers fail to implement and enforce safe driving principles. Instead, the truck companies have policies that force the driver to needlessly endanger the public and thereby put corporate profits over the safety of the public. For instance, management instructs their truck drivers to deliver a load with a deadline that is almost impossible to meet thereby forcing the driver to speed. Or, it demands that the driver make multiple loads, knowing that the truck has not been undergone routine brake, and tire maintenance. This corporate mentality inevitably puts us, and our children at risk.
