Houston Metro Employees In Fatal Wrong-Way Crash

Houston car accident attorneys are always saddened when car accidents involve people that make a career of serving the city. Thousands of Houston Metro employees work together everyday to help get Houston residents safely to and from their destination. A tragic accident occurred on Monday evening that inured two and left one Metro employee dead.

According to Houston Metro police, a Cadillac was driving the wrong way on the Eastex Freeway Monday evening at about 9:30 p.m. The car was moving in the northbound lanes of Highway 59 near I-10. The Cadillac was in the left emergency lane on the northbound side of the freeway when he slammed head on into a Metro Transit Authority utility truck. Police think that the driver may have realized he was going the wrong way down the highway, and been in the emergency lane attempting to turn around to travel in the right direction when the accident occurred.

The Cadillac driver who was a Metro employee and was wearing his uniform at the time of the crash was killed upon impact and died at the scene of the accident. The two Metro employees who were in the utility truck sustained only minor injuries and were transported to the nearby Ben Taub Hospital.
