by EmilyGray on October 21, 2011

Houston car accident attorneys know that construction zones are always a hotspot for accidents.

Houston car accident lawyers wanted to make you aware of the traffic closures around the city this weekend There will be several closures this weekend near Texas Children’s Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. In the Katy area there will be a total closure of the I-10. So if you need to travel to or through either of these areas, plan extra time for your journey and drive with greater than normal caution.

Following is a list of the closures:

Fannin Street will be closed, both northbound and southbound, near Holcombe to allow for continued construction of the Texas Children’s Hospital’s “Miracle Bridge” over Fannin. The barricades will be in place from 9 p.m. on Friday until Sunday at midnight. The northbound detour will take you to Holcombe and Main. The southbound detour will take you to Dryden and Main. METRORail will also be suspended in this location during this time. Bus service will be provided along the rail route, but expect delays. For more information, look on Metro’s website.

I-10 Katy Freeway:

I-10 main lanes will be closed between Mason Road and Fort Bend County Road to allow for continued construction of the direct connectors (flyovers) at I-10 and the Grand Parkway (SH-99). Eastbound lanes will be closed between Friday 9 p.m. and Saturday 9 p.m. Westbound lanes will close at 11 a.m. on Saturday and will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday.
